As part of our role in the community we support young people in fulfilling their volunteering elements towards awards e.g. Duke of Edinburgh Award or just to gain experience, confidence and develop their skills.

If you have a little free time, want to become involved in the community and make new friends, volunteering may be for you. Gaydon Village Store is run by volunteers, not only serving customers, but helping with finance, ordering and even stock taking. Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they want and do not have to give a weekly commitment. Full training is given to all new volunteers, and no experience is necessary. Barbara has lived in the village for over six years and volunteered to help in the shop to ‘become involved in the community and to get to know more people’. As a result, she has made lots of new friends, and describes the experience as ‘rewarding’ and ‘even quite good fun at times’.
